Hi! You probably found a rock that lead you here. We are Girl Scout troop 44331 and our mission is to get Girl Scouts to stop using palm oil in their cookies. In late 2020 we discovered that there was unethical and unsustainable resourced palm oil in their cookies. We have decided to take action and create this website to educate people of this situation. We strongly believe that as a community we can put end to this.

Problems

Deforestation
Between 2005 and 2010, almost 353,000 hectares of rain forest was destroyed by deforestation, plantations for palm oil are partially to blame. If you want to know more a link is below.

Green Washing
Greenwashing is a tactic companies or organizations use to market themselves as environmentally friendly and minimizing global impact, ie; using the RSPO stamp with "MIXED" included.
It is tricky advertising and can mislead consumers who prefer to buy goods and services from environmentally and humanitarian conscious brands.
Child Labor
Besides the deforestation the other major problem with palm oil plantations
is child labor. The children are not only working 12 hours a day but they are working in a harsh unsafe environment with little pay. If you want to learn more check out the link below.
